Who can use Mediations.exchange?+
Anyone. Individuals, small businesses, freelancers, landlords, tenants, customers, and vendors — any two (or more) parties with a civil disagreement.
Is it really free?+
Yes. Opening a case, inviting the other party, exchanging positions and reaching a settlement is free. You only pay if you choose to add a mediator ($8) or optional add-on packs.
What kind of disputes can I bring?+
Contract disputes, unpaid invoices, service quality, deposits, refunds, workplace issues, neighbour disputes, and more. If it's civil (non-criminal), it probably fits.
Is a settlement legally binding?+
The settlement is a private agreement between the parties. It's a strong record of what was agreed and can be enforced like any other agreement. For higher-value matters, you can also have it e-signed as a formal document.
How is the mediator impartial?+
Mediators are trained, independent, and never represent either party. Their job is only to help both sides reach a fair settlement.
What if the other party ignores the invite?+
We'll send reminders. If they still don't engage, we'll close the case and give you a written record you can use in later steps if needed.
Is my data private?+
Yes. Case details are only visible to you, the other party, and (if invited) an assigned mediator.
